My doctor called last week with the news: You have an underactive thyroid.  GREAT! That is what I wanted to hear. Besides weight gain (that has left me feeling not so cute), having cold hands/feet and not sleeping at night, I have NO ENERGY. I have to keep my eyes peeled open in the mornings at my desk and sometimes making my way to the gym takes all the strength I have.

Tomorrow I start on Lugol’s Solution. It’s a mixture of iodine. The thing I like about my doctor is that she isn’t going to mask my problem. She is going to fix the problem. What a concept! Basically people with hypothyroidism have iodine deficiency. And replacing the lack of iodine in my body will get my thyroid back up in working.

I cannot wait to have energy again.

Why is Brandon leaving American Idol tonight???

Why isn’t SUNJAYA (or however you spell his name!) leaving???

Come on American! Quit sympathazing with people that aren’t as gifted with singing.

We had a whirlwind weekend. My cousin got married in Houston and with the wedding happening on Sunday morning and with the time change, talk about a busy weekend. Saturday was fill with 3 parties to attend back to back. The wedding went off with a few minor issues, but it was gorgeous. My cousin looked stunning. And I hope that right now she is relaxing on the beach and not having to deal with some famous MIL issues! :)

My MRI results came back. I have exertional compartment syndrome. My doctor recommended massage therapy to see if that would help and reduce the inflammation before he recommends surgery. I hope it doesn’t come down to that. So in the meantime, my massage therapist recommended some things for me to do to help.

Tonight my bootie is draggin’. And instead of landing it at boot camp, as I did last night, it’s sitting in my favorite chair watching American Idol. And blogging.

I’ve been feeling a little down ever since my shins have been giving me problems when I started running during boot camp. I went to a sports orthopedic on Monday only to find out what I thought it could possibly be: exertion compartment syndrome. Basically, my shin muscles aren’t able to expand like a normal person’s would, so it builds pressure when I run and has no where to go because my muscle isn’t able to expand, like a balloon. I have an MRI tomorrow to rule out shin splints and fractures. My doc is pretty sure it’s ECS. The great news is knowing what it is. The bad news is that surgery is the only real fix.

So, we’ll see what happens tomorrow after the MRI. Until then, I can’t run the mile run at boot camp. I end up running light sprints and walking to combat the painful shins! OUCH!
