If you know of one, this color, or other than silver that is an automatic, let me know.
Today I am reminded at how much one action can effect many. How one choice can change the course for so many others. And today I am reminded that no one is immune to the work of sin. No matter who you are, what you do and how high of pedestal others may place you on.
It’s sick.
It’s disappointing.
Unfortunately, it’s life.
It’s affected so many churches and affected mine back in May. It has now affected my parents’ church. It’s disappointing. And while I have an internal conflict that says, “Everyone is human,” I have the other side that reminds me that those called according to His purpose should take a higher road. It’s sad. Disheartening. Discombobulating.
I guess the sermon at my church was rathering fitting today. A reminder that I have more in common with non-Christians than I remember. We all pay rent/mortgages. Pay car payments. Get up and go to work. Yet the only difference is that they are a victim of the enemy. They aren’t the enemy.
Sometimes God doesn’t make sense. Sometimes he allows for disappointment. It’s all the more a reminder at how much the enemy is at work at those called according to His purpose.
God, you know my feelings here
Could wipe my world away,
Ravaging the promises
A stronger heart once made,
So hold me, I’m falling so fast,
And tell me that the fighting inside will pass
As I walk away,
And find the strength to choose
The man who waits for me
With a heart that’s true.
Oh, faithless heart,
Be far away from me.
Playing games inside my head
That only I can see.
Oh, faithless heart,
You tempt me to the core,
But you can’t have a hold on me,
So don’t come around anymore. - Amy Grant
Normally I’m tired by the time 5 pm Wednesday rolls around. It’s that Wednesday’s hump that seems to get me hung up. Today, I was full of energy. I even forgot to take my vitamins admist getting up a few minutes earlier than normal.
My workouts have been on a roll, despite taking last week off. I started a new weight training program that I am quite enjoying. The first 6 weeks consist of a break-in period. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays you’ll find me 5 minutes on the crosstrainer and then I hit my supersets. My supersets consist of various exercises that work my 8 major muscles: biceps, triceps, thighs, hamstrings, calves, chest, shoulder and back. I actually enjoy them. I am seeing results, for once. I am sticking to a program, which is the key. And while I’m cutting back on my calories and carbs, I’m interested to see how much my body will transform.
I’ll keep you updated.
I will probably be struck by lightning for this, but I have to tell this story from S. Padre Island. Friday night my friend and I were out on the balcony at the hotel and shouted inside to me, “Get out here quick!” It was about 11 pm, so I dashed out the patio door to see what it was that was so funny . Lo and behold a Surburban was unloading their “luggage” on to the racks to have the conceirge transport. Their stuff was packed in Wal-Mart sacks! They had over 2 carts filled of Wal-Mart sacks. It was the craziest thing in the world. They just kept on coming! I wouldn’t laugh or think twice if this was at some ratty hotel. But this was the Sheraton were rooms are over $200 a night! I would have thought that they could afford some type of luggage if they could afford the hotel and the vehicle they were driving.
We couldn’t quit from laughing! We are bad, I know! But it was so funny! I guess you don’t need luggage when you have Wal-Mart sacks.
So I had a quite adventureous weekend. I wanted to get out of town. So off I went on Friday to South Padre Island. It was nice to get away from Dallas and see some new scenery. The beach was gorgeous. The weather was hot and humid. I mean, it was like a steam bath outside! We got to enjoy the beach and really enjoy the pool with a swim-up bar.
The fun part was our trip back. I had been given Cowboys vs. Redskins tickets for Sunday evening. We were to arrive back by around 6 and would easily make it to the 7:15. Well, all of that changed when it decided to rain in Dallas and Houston. Needless to say, we landed in Dallas after long 2 hour (normally 1 hour) flight from Houston to Dallas. We landed at 9 pm. UGH! But that doesn’t finish the story. Since so many flights had been diverted and canceled, by the time we arrived, there were about 500 people looking for their luggage! Compared to the 9/11 gas fiasco that I experienced in OKC, this was about the most insane thing I’ve seen in my lifetime. No one knew which side their luggage would be coming from. On top of that, they had just thrown all sorts of different flights onto the baggage claims belts. I looked and waited for 1.5 hours before we finally left Love Field with our bags. Needless to say, we were grumpy. We were tired from the long-butt flight, hungry (atleast I was and we know how I am when I’m hungry), and we had missed the Cowboys game.
Overall, we survived! And we had a great time. Atleast I know I did.
Another season of Big Brother is over. I have to admit, that bums me out! I find the cleaverness and somewhat lying and manipulating that goes on in the house to be somewhat interesting. I would not survive in there! My favorite player was Will. Hands down.
So, who here likes the new skinny jeans? NOT ME! Skinny jeans and leggings were out with the 80s. I think I’m going to start a new campaign against these things as they are coming back in style. Well, not back in my style, but back in style at places like The Gap. Ummm…no thanks!

Ah. It’s almost Fall, and in Texas, it’s finally starting to cool down. I’m not sure how long it will last. Most of the time, at least my 25 years experience of it, it fakes you out. You think you are in for Fall to begin and then, BAM, 100 degrees again. But when Fall arrives, so do the Cowboys! Working for a big corporation, we somehow luck out with tickets to local events. And so last Thursday, we were among the other Cowboy fans watching a preseason game. Amazingly, T.O showed up and played! The game was a lot of fun and surreal. After seeing them on t.v. only for so long, it was cool to actually see them in person.
And hopefully, the Boys will pull off an amazing season. I’m looking forward to it.
